DARWIN PRIDE ROADSHOW – KATHERINE

Darwin Pride is on a Roadshow to Katherine! On September 12, all the glitz of Darwin Pride will be in town for a mini movie festival and an absolutely fabulous night of Drag Queen Bingo!

Rock up to Katherine Star Cinema at Midday for all the fun of these gorgeous movie features:

  • Feature 1: Love, Simon (PG, 2018)
Everyone deserves a great love story, but for 17-year-old Simon Spier, it’s a little more complicated. He hasn’t told his family or friends that he’s gay, and he doesn’t know the identity of the anonymous classmate that he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.
  • Drag Territory Intermission
Get ready to be entertained by the glam-fam of Drag Territory as they lip-sync their way in to Katherine and provide an intermission worth missing out on your choc-top top-up!
  • Feature 2: The Birdcage (M, 1996)
In this remake of the classic French farce “La Cage aux Folles,” engaged couple Val Goldman (Dan Futterman) and Barbara Keeley (Calista Flockhart) shakily introduce their future in-laws. Val’s father, Armand (Robin Williams), a gay Miami drag club owner, pretends to be straight and attempts to hide his relationship with Albert (Nathan Lane), his life partner and the club’s flamboyant star attraction, so as to please Barbara’s father, controversial Republican Sen. Kevin Keeley (Gene Hackman).

SATURDAY 12 SEPTEMBER FROM 6PM

DRAG QUEEN BINGO NIGHT AT FINCH CAFE

It’s bingo, but not as you know it! When Darwin Pride comes to town, you can be guaranteed that your average game of bingo is anything but average! Hosted by the fabulous Queens from Drag Territory, this night is going to be one you’ll never forget! It’s a little sassy. It’s a little naughty.

And it’s a whole lot of fun! The night will include bingo (of course!), plus shows from our glamourous hosts, games, DJ Slinky D from Darwin Dj Hire to get us dancing! Plus we’ll be running a best dressed comp so we can crown the Queen of Katherine! Join us at The FInch Cafe from 6pm at The Finch Cafe for a night worth dragging yourself into town for!

– Issues and barriers facing people with diverse genders and sexualities
– Your role in supporting and accepting the experiences of LGBTI people
– Fostering partnerships and providing appropriate referral services
– Developing an understanding of various guidelines surrounding sexually and gender diverse individuals
